Day Thirteen

5 games 4 bubbles and an unbelievable call, that was my day in poker. I bubbled a $20 a $30 and two $50 and a 7th in a $20. I ran QK into AQ, A4 into AQ, A9 into AT and A8 into TT all me pushing from button or SB and BB waking up with a monster. The icing on the cake however was when we were 7 handed and I had about 1100 chips and hadn’t played a hand all game and was folded round to me in the sb and I had J5 and the BB had about 1250 so figured I could make him fold his blind to me so I shoved in and he snap calls with JT…. Oh dear. Needless to say I missed any outs I had on all of the above. Bad times.

FML Of The Day: Today, I met up with a guy from a local dating site for coffee. He walked up, looked me over and said "Ummm, no", then walked off. FML

Ouch.

I watched the film “ The Box” last night. I was expecting an edgy thriller full of twists turns and maybe the odd explosion, what I got was a waste of two hours of my life. What a load of rubbish that was, I really recommend you don’t see this movie. Its slow, its dreary and the story isn’t even that engaging. They give you little reason to care about the characters and they aren’t very well developed. Tomorrow is almost upon us, the main event, the beer pong championship, I have already had a conversation today from one over confident challenger ( Mr Scott) I wonder if any others will venture out the wood work before the day is done.

No more poker today, I did say I wanted to get in a good six hours but I doubt that is going to be possible, I think this month I am just going to try and work back all the deficit I have, its only $500 at the moment and was in the region of $1300 less than a week ago so I am no doubt confident that I will do it and maybe even get a little into profit, maybe $1500, which is completely doable and then get back on the massive grind next month, once Christmas and New Year is over etc. Doesn’t help when I’m walking into hands all day long when I also have something as well so I’m drawing to three outs most of the time.

Well that about does it for today, I think some Xbox is in order before bed, got a busy weekend and then a busy week leading up to Christmas, STILL haven’t bought my presents so Monday will be the day for that. To any poker players out there glglgl, to any non poker players out there have a nice day or…. Hand!

Day Twelve

Really not a whole lot to talk about today, I only played poker for 2 hours as I had to go and pick my sister up at around 8pm so couldn’t really start any tournaments as would have been unable to play them when I needed to go out. The few games I did play however ended up with me breaking even. I came 6th in a $20 STT after pushing with AJ on the button and the BB waking up with two Tens, I then bubbles a $50 after first losing K5-84 on a xx544 board… can anyone say yuck? And then shoving with Q9 and being looked up by A8 and him flopping an A was all but game over. Rescued the day however by taking down a $20 STT leaving me a grand total of $2 up!

FML Of The Day: Today, I went in for an interview at my dream job. When I walked in, I got a dirty look from the front desk secretary. Turns out, the guy interviewing me was from a dating website I'm on. I'd rejected him and told him to get a life. FML

I believe a lesson for all women here, never be a bitch about it when a guy hits on you because you never know it might come back to bite you on your perfectly shaped arse!

Other than poker I did very little, caught up on a little TV and played some Xbox, the weekend is drawing oh so closer and I need to start looking for ping pong balls in my house otherwise someone is going to have to purchase me some so I can execute my dominance at the beer pong table. Speaking of beer pong one of my mentor group Gaz aka Gary Hill has been running real bad lately and also happens to be a personal friend and will be attending said beer pong event on Saturday. Due to his bad luck I have recommended/told him to take 2 or 3 days off playing to recharge his batteries and get off tilt. I have also imposed a penalty, if he does play before Saturday he will be subjected to two and three on one games of beer pong with double and triple the amount of beer placed in the cups for each game. If any of you don’t know what beer pong is then Google it, it really is a phenomenal game. I’m in two minds, I hope he doesn’t play so he can show he has discipline and seeing as I get a sheet every morning with my teams wins and losses on it I will know if he played. On the other hand I really wanna see him play 3v1 beer pong, only one more day, I wonder if he can hang on (if your reading this Gaz I hope your not playing at the same time…. Or maybe I do.)

Going to try and hammer out a goof 5 or 6 hours of poker tomorrow, weather I will do that is a different matter, the snow may distract me. Happy Snow Day everyone!

Day Eleven

Wow, what I wrote about Arsenal on Monday has already come to fruition after they scraped a point at Burnley. This was just the kind of result I expected to come and also the kind of result that has been extremely over present in Arsenal’s league campaign over the past three or four years. Also a great three points for Spurs after a couple of disappointing games, if only they hadn’t of squandered that 2-0 lead at Everton and won at home against Wolves last week they would be sitting in third and one point off United and four of Chelsea and the top spot, missed opportunities no doubt.

While I am still saddened at not being able to see Jimmy Carr the fact Russell Howard is on my TV screen once a week makes me smile, while he may be a little extravagant at times I do find him very funny and his take on the weeks going on in his TV show “ Russell Howard’s Good News” is fresh and entertaining. Saying that I really do miss The Real Hustle, I wish they would make a new series, I can never get enough of Jessica Clement on my screen.

FML Of The Day: Today, my boyfriend of 3 years confessed that he was sleeping with me and 5 other girls while we first started dating. He told me he numbered us and rolled a die to see which one he would date. I guess I won. FML

This HAS to be a lie, how can one kid be sleeping with six different girls at once and not one of them a) find out or b) work it out. It’s hard enough having one relationship with work and socialising etc but 6 all at once, I’m calling porky pies on that one.

Poker is, wait for it, good! Today started off pretty good, I decided to jump straight into a $50 10 man feeling confident, this was until we were 5 handed and my QQ lost to A9 and left me with 600 chips on 100/200 blinds. I did a great recovery stealing the blinds and then getting a much needed double up with QQ against KT. When I got down to the cash the stacks were fairly even and with some well timed aggression I ended up HU with 12k vs. his 8k. It was a fairly easy HU he wasn’t aggressive enough and I ended up grinding him down to around 3000 on 300/600 and after he limped in and the board came down 9A3 I decided my 89 was good enough to move over the top of his bet and when he showed a flush draw I was happy, two bricks later and it was victory and $250 to me. Feeling in good spirits I played the $10 rebuy $5500 GTD, I lost a big pot early AA-TT but managed to rally back and finish the first hour with 10k, a very respectable stack. I negotiated the 267 strong field down to the last 30 where I was put on a board of KdKcAc holding K5 against JTc, the money went in and the river came an 8 of clubs sending the pot to him and a measly $44 to me. Still so hard to hit the big cash in those tourneys without a lot of luck.

Having been happy with the day on Betsafe so far I ventured over to Mansion where I got beat at big time at the beginning of the month. I entered an 18-man $30 and got down to the final table through bullying and well timed shoves. I ended up HU with a big chip lead and eventually had all the money in with AJ vs. his K8 of spades, AsTs6d wasn’t the worst flop but the 9s on the turn was pretty much as bad a turn card as you can get and the blinds got so big after that that I ended up shoving J7 and running straight into his wired JJ. Still more profit into my account, unfortunately my quest to get my Penzance magic back was stopped by Pokerisks own Justin Brennan after his AJ out flopped my 88 sending me out in 11th position when I was 5th in chips, shame. The Pokerisk MTT was also on the cards for tonight, I played well and got to the final table but after losing AJ-QK after a board of 5287Q I was left with about 3000 on 100/200 blinds, I picked up QQ and ended up all in, it was a three way pot against JJ and AK, the 739 flop was great for me but the K on the turn spelled the end and I was out in 8th. Still No complaints, been a very good day and I am definitely looking forward to playing tomorrow and taking down some $50 STTs and may even play a couple MTTs if the day is going well. Never know, I might just be wining the $50 rebuy for 14k.....a guy can dream.

Day Ten

Mixed feelings today, On one hand I went deep in two decent MTTs the $6k $54 and the $12k $108 freezouts. After getting dealt absolutely nothing for about 2 hours in the $6k I finally went out in 26th position after being caught stealing with Q9 against AJ, not the end of the world I mean I went in behind but would have been nice to at least hit the top 20 and cash from the 165 field but its fine. The 12k started off an absolute disaster when by 25/50 I was down to 1010 from my 2500 starting stack, then I got a triple up with AK that somehow held up in a three way pot and then started picking up momentum building up to about 14k and sitting in 8th position with 24 left. After getting check raised after I raised from the button with 66 and it came down K24 I was down to around 8000 and the blinds had escalated to 500/1000 with 100 antes and we were down to fourteen players, a guy who had been pretty active opened from the cut off for 2500, I had QK and thought maybe I could get him to fold his hand and if not I could still be in front as his range was big from that position. He called with 44 and a non paint board sent me to the rail in 14th with $222 for my efforts. Not a horrible result by any means as this was another 150+ field.

FML Of The Day: Today, I called my boyfriend upset because my best friend has begun stripping to pay for school. His response was, "Where and what time does she work?" FML

I would so high-five that guy if he said that in my presence.

Stts were almost as unfavourable, I lost my first two a $20 and a $50, finishing 5th in both after losing 50/50s. This was soon gone from my mind though as I took down a $50 for $250 despite losing a 14k pot in the HU when my 22 was taken down by A5 on a 77399 board. No matter though as my HU aggression was enough to bully him and earn me the win. I then finished 4th in a $50 after losing a flip to bust a guy and then got caught shoving with 89 by AQ Axx flop and bye bye me. I still finished up though and I’m feeling confident about my game again which are two important things so hopefully the rest of the week I can dish out some abuse and take down some $$$$.

In other news I was unable to get Jimmy Carr tickets for my Birthday, bad times. I have been a huge fan of his for a while now and would have been great to see him live but unfortunately that was not to be as his one and only show in Southend was sold out, I guess going to have to settle for a drunken night out somewhere. Nice result for United tonight after losing to Villa at the weekend. Would be nice if Chelsea or Arsenal were to slip up this week, also, what in the world is going on at Birmingham! They are on an unreal run currently sitting in sixth after being in the relegation zone at the beginning of the season for weeks. Maybe all that money that has been invested really is inspiring the players. Sad news about Dean Ashton retiring, he was defiantly a highly skilled player and when fit was a great goal scorer but I really do hope he doesn’t seek to sue Shaun Wright-Phillips and Chelsea, it would in my opinion put a blemish on his career and kind of makes him seem money hungry although many would argue what is he supposed to do now that he cant make money from football anymore which is completely a fair point.

Looking forward to tomorrow and no doubt the rest of the week, weekend is going to be huge, so doubt will get any poker in so will hopefully get in a lot before then. Hopefully get to have a little live game on Saturday with the boys, been a while since me and Gaz played heads up and I know Paul for some deluded reason wants to play me at poker as he thinks he can beat me so could even end up winning my night out money from them. Finger crossed eh.

Day Seven/Eight/Nine

Nothing like a few days off from poker to get the fire back, I really am looking forward to playing tomorrow and especially after I played a few games on Saturday and actually ended up a couple 100 maybe the tide has changed. Saturday Night ended up being a good laugh. The night started off well with a nice dinner at a restaurant and the opening of the secret Santa presents. Highlights included David Thompson being given a huge framed photo of himself in a embarrassing pose while drunk. Kristie Butler being given some bright pink underwear and Kieran Scott being given “Ultimate Minger” Top Trump cards.

The night then moved to a nearby Spoons where I witnessed the most foul drink I have ever seen/smelt but fortunately did not have to taste. The drink is question is a Wray Nepew, it’s an Over proofed high strength white rum from Jamaica and it could take paint of walls I swear. David Thompson had lost a previous bet and as punishment had to drink four of them in a row straight, now to his credit he did all four and in pretty quick time…. But he then did rush to the toilets in record time and while no one knows, I think he may have been a little sick. Last but not least we then headed to Crush bar, it played a lot of electro music and there were plenty of good looking women there and the alcohol wasn’t overly priced. Overall a great night that was ended as always by a little trip to a local kebab shop and some chips smothered in ketchup!

FML Of The Day:Today, I was sitting on the bus to the gym. I saw that an old woman needed help to get off the bus, so I got up, and helped her off. When I had finally got her down the stairs the bus closed the doors and drove away. I was in the middle of nowhere and the bus drove away with all my things. FML

I guess that’s what happens in today’s society when you try to do a nice thing for someone.

Sunday Morning I woke up and as always I had pretty bad cotton mouth, a couple glasses of water though and I was fine, this was soon followed by one of the greatest fry ups I have ever eaten. My friend Derek got up and went to the shops and his Mum knocked us up a quality fry up consisting of sausage bacon egg beans an chips, absolutely top stuff and no doubt a fantastic cure for a mini handover.

Huge Shame Unite couldn’t overcome Villa on Saturday with Chelsea dropping points we had a excellent opportunity to get back on level terms but was unfortunately not to be. Also now Arsenal, after knocking off Liverpool are looking as if they could be dangerous as if they win both their games in hand they will go in front of us not ideal. No doubt Arsenal will do what they always do though and go and loose to Wolves or someone they shouldn't do.

Today’s fact is definitely full of win for all males.

Hopefully a long and lucrative week of poker in front of means on Saturday it will be all systems go for a messy drunk night as Beer Pong and then £15 open bar in Chelmsford are on the cards, Sunday Hangovers will return. Last time I played beer pong I was on the receiving end of two defeats by Kieran and I am not going to let that happen again, be interesting to see who else will be willing to play as the last time I played against Paul Cooper he played one game and as almost unable to stand he was so drunk so I wonder if he will be willing to step up once again.

I feel like playing poker right now so I‘m going to go play a few games, what a weird sensation and one I haven’t had for a good week, lets just hope it stays.

Day Five/Six

I don’t even know why I bother taking time off when its jus the same old crap different day, even when I finally get a piece of luck it is all for nothing. I was on the bubble in two stts today the first one I was very short on 1600 and blinds of 150/300 and I had 68 in the sb and moved in to try and steal, the big blind calls with AK, not too terrible I have live cards 88x, not bad eh? Two running clubs and the chips are his. Fair enough he had the best hand pre-flop but I can’t catch a freaking break. Second game one guy had a huge chip lea on around 10k I had about 4k one guy on 3 and two on around 1k. I pick up two Jacks on the button and raise into the big stack for 600 and he flat calls, 39T rainbow ( rainbow = all different suits you non poker people) and he open shoves his whole stack, having been watching him the whole game I know he’s not a good player so I call, he’s holding QT, Q turn out 5th instead of huge chip leader… interesting.

Nice to see my blog a few days ago have inspired people to watch The Mentalist, two people have said to me they have started watching it due to my recommendation and are both enjoying it.

FML Of The Day: Today, I really wanted something to drink. I looked in the fridge, and found some of my grandma's soy milk. I decide to take a swig, and instead of tasting soy, I tasted rotten chicken. Turns out my grandma knew I drink her soy milk and decided to swap it with expired chicken broth. FML

Stealing is bad kids, stealing is bad.

The Main event is almost here… well not quiet the main event but its going to be an event. That being Saturday night in Bexley, my secret Santa present still hasn’t been brought and I need to give it in less than 24 hours, but I have a plan so never fear. As for the rest of my Christmas shopping I have decided to postpone that for a later date as the prospect of Bluewater filled with mums and kids on a Saturday afternoon does not intrigue me. My beloved Manchester United are in a world of trouble to say the least in regards to our defence, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evans, O Shea, Neville, Brown are all out, meaning we have no centre backs and are being reduced to playing Carrick, a centre midfielder as a centre half. None the less I still remain confident as Ferguson is a master and will no doubt pick a perfect time for each game and the results will keep coming in.

Arsenal/Liverpool on Sunday, two teams who are over hyped and will never live up to their fans high expectations, Liverpool are nothing without Torres an Gerard and even with them both they sometimes can’t get it done. While Arsenal will probably once again finish in the top four, it won’t be in positions one or two and Liverpool look like they going to finish outside of the top four for the first time in god knows how long. I actually kind of look forward to this prospect as it breathes new life into the Premier League and will give a side like Spurs or City ( as much as it pains me to say it) a chance to shine on the big stage of the Champions League and find out how good they really are.

Who?Why?How? Is all I can think there. The cow had better of been shooting liquid gold out of its udders to pay that much for it.

Anoher Day, more frustration, I will probably play a little tomorrow morning/afternoon but then I can look forward to a night out on the booze and enjoying the good company that will no doubt be on offer. I know I kind of cheated combining two days entries into one but I didn’t really have anything to write about yesterday so thought I would give you guys a special combo day! ( I know, I’m good to you guys) Hope you all have a good weekend, I will try and squeeze out an entry tomorrow afternoon if I haven’t done a Gaz(good friend from uni) and smashed my laptop into oblivion due to poker frustration (he never actually smashed it but he has punched it on multiple occasions).

Day Four

For those of you who were worried about my sleeping arrangements fear not, I will be staying with my good friend Derek! I still have no desire to play poker, have been so bored today and so little to do, I did play 4 games, same old yawnsville won’t even bother going into the details. Although I did learn that 33 and KJ = Mansion nuts! For those of you who are not up on your poker lingo “nuts” is the best hand possible, now in the real world the best hand or nuts is AA but in the messed up world of ipoker 33 and KJ are THE hands to play. I can’t remember the last time I saw one of these hands loose, when in actual fact neither hand is that great… in fact I would even go as far as to say they are bad hands.

I am in yet another dilemma, only a day after sorting out where I am sleeping on Saturday I have just realised I have zero new year plans, Siobhan has said I can go out with her so I may do that as that is bound to be entertaining and there will be people I know. I am however not a huge fan of new years the way most people are. Technically, its just another night out but wayyyy more expensive to get in places, more expensive drinks and triple fares on taxis. I mean why is the new year such a big deal? Why is it more important than any other day of the year? That being said I’m sure I’ll still go out and I’m sure I’ll blow a ton of cash.

FML Of The Day: Today, I met a girl who's the whole package: brains, beauty, shared interests, great personality, single, and into me. Too bad I married my bitchy, depressive high school girlfriend who said she'd kill herself if I didn't.Sometimes, she still tells me she'll do it if we divorce. I believe her. FML

Wow, and you think your relationship is bad? Gotta suck for that guy, I mean what happens if he just snaps and says he’s leaving and she does do it, I mean I know a lot of people would say its not his fault and well its not but the guilt would probably destroy him.

I’m in quarantine…. My room is currently my sanctuary as both my Mum and Sister have become ill, Sister has tonsillitis, which at one stage I got every January for about three years running and I’m in no mood to get it again especially as its Christmas time and that means nights out, dinners etc and having tonsillitis would put a bit of a dampener on things. No idea what Mum’s got but by the way she’s coughing I don’t want it. Is there anything worse than Christmas shopping? I hate shopping as it is, so the prospect of shopping along with 13,912 other people at Bluewater sickens me, almost as much as that time I lost $1000 pot while playing cash but that’s another story for another day. I’m going to try and tie my Christmas shopping in with my night out on Saturday, hit Bluewater around 3pm pick up needed gifts while no doubt being blocked/slowed down/annoyed by Mothers with dribbling 5 year olds. Then head down to Derek’s for the night out. Still no clue about what I’m buying my Secret Santa, hopefully I will be walking around and just see something that I think is appropriate.

Now that’s messed up…..

I can honestly say that pretty much having played no poke today was a good thing, I’m feeling a lot happier and less stressed, I may even have tomorrow off too as I gotta go get my hair cut in preparation for Saturday, now don’t be mistaken I don’t get my hair cut every time before a night out, that would just be strange. But if needs it big time, its getting too long, on that note my good friend Kieran gets his hair cut once a week, I have never met anyone who does that, he says its because he cant style it properly if it gets too long which may be true but once a week… what a waste of £££.

OK fine I’ll tell the $1000 pot story… was playing limits of $2 and $4, was dealt AA ( the nuts… remember from earlier) and raised the pot to $12, the guy next to me re-raises to $33, it comes back to me so I make it $100 to play, the guy moves all in for about 497$ total, I obviously call, 1000$ in the pot and he has KK.. I’m an 80% favourite to win the pot and my heart is pumping, the flop comes. 2c 4s 8s, the first thing I do is look what colour his kings are, he has a King of spades, I don’t have the ace of spades. 9s on the turn and my head is in my hands, Qs on the river and my heart sinks as 5 spades make a flush and $1000 heads in his direction, crushed is not even the word.
